Getting Here
Planes
Flights from London, France, Germany, and other locations in Italy land at Brindisi, which is a 40-minute drive from Nardo. Flights from across the continent arrive at Bari Airport, located a 90-minute drive away; from there, you can take a train to Lecce. We can arrange private transfers or provide information regarding the airport shuttle as needed.
Trains
The mainline Trenitalia services terminate at Lecce station. From there, you can either enjoy the leisurely local train service or rent a car to explore Salento. Taxis to Nardo and private transfers are available from Lecce on request.
Automobiles
The narrow streets of Nardo’s historic centre are primarily pedestrian and require a residents pass for cars, but there is ample free parking around the old town. We can arrange luggage transfers, and vehicle access is possible in exceptional circumstances if necessary. However if you’re planning to explore the rest of Puglia and have limited time, we do recommend having a car.
Taxis and private transfers
We can arrange private transfers from the airport or for local excursions where you might prefer to avoid driving but taxis need to be booked in advance.
Local Public Transport
Local buses operate beach shuttles in the summer, and the cross-country trains to smaller villages have their own charm. However, both options take time, and the stations are not always located in the centre of the towns, so some planning is required.
Bikes
Electric bikes can be rented for local excursions. The nearest beach, Santa Maria al Bagno, has a safe cycle path from Nardo for most of the journey, and there is an excellent coastal cycling lane that you can join from there that runs along the coast.
